About the Artist
Raelynn was born on June 23, in Greensboro, NC, and grew up in Cedar Rapids, IA and Auburn, WA. With artistic talent running in her family, it was not surprising when she showed substantial promise as a very young child.
Raelynn supplemented her natural talent with art classes at different colleges in the Seattle area. After moving to Oklahoma in 2003, she took Faux Finishing & Old World Textures at Artistic Illusions Studio in Nashville, TN. With that knowledge, she then started her own faux & mural business. Her work was featured repeatedly in Showcase of Homes Oklahoma City magazine. From 2005-2007 She was consistently chosen to the the faux work and murals for the models of the most prestigious builders in the Oklahoma City parade of homes. Raelynn had both private and commercial projects all over the country.
In March 2006 she attended Blair School of Art’s portrait class in Raeligh, NC, taught by Dru Blair, founder and world renowned photo-realist. There she discovered her true artistic passion: photorealism. Raelynn continued classses at Blair School of Art and was soon asked to become part of the instructional staff later in 2006. Currently she remains eith the Blair School of Art, and has transitioned into Dru’s lead instructor. Says Dru about Raelynn, “Raelynn is a dedicated and hard-working individual who is passionate about everything she does. She is smart, witty, charming, and of course a talented artist. Raelynn is also not afraid of a challenge and is willing to put everything she’s got into a project. She possesses a strong artistic eye and is my lead demonstration instructor at the Blair School of Art.”
Raelynn’s current series of macro flora paintings use subtle colors and textures to reveal the vivid beauty so often concealed from the naked eye. So much of a flower’s exquisiteness can only be exposed through profound artistic license. Raelynn draws her inspiration from using this freedom to evoke and emphasize dramatic emotions. Raelynn plans for future series to include children, angels, and sporting themes.
“Recently Raelynn’s art has evolved even further, featuring a floral series of breathtaking beauty and amazing realism. She has captured the essence of her subject at a level that few artists can attain.”
